THE INTERIOR
Tiny Texas Forget-Me-Not Chapel – Interior with Pupit and Pews
Bejeweled with 4 vintage stained glass windows salvaged in Buffalo, NY possibly crafted in Europe but no exact provenance is known. The windows date to the late 1800′s and include reds, greens, blues, and textured glass on the front that is all original hand blown glass. Tiny crosses are etched into the glass on the Chapel’s side windows and are also well over 100 years old. (See more about these windows, below).
The two front stained glass windows are huge triangle topped classics that have been amazingly preserved and glitter in the sun! They measure approximately 3′ x 4 1/2′ tall. The colored glass above and behind the pulpit is a mix of cobalt, crimsom, and green that fills the spirit with rich tastes of the beauty of our world that is to be savored and appreciated when we give Thanks.
The door is solid wood, with an arched window, and vintage door plate and knob made of brass.
Her sides have 120 year old vintage Cypress wood siding and wood sash windows, painted in a robin’s egg blue-green with a moroccan diamond lace divided light top and nearly all original glass cross etched glass in the top sashes. You will find some replacements with identical shaped but smaller crosses to be one of the great conversational points that few will ever spot on their own. Both types of etched glass are rare and over 100 years old.
Her wainscot, made of vintage solid wood paneled doors, is painted to match the interior window sash trim, and the baseboard and window trim, and backside of the entry door are all a creamy milk white color. This one does have latex paint, but it is long cured. The paint finishes are similar to semi-gloss – they have a lovely hand to the touch and soft sheen to the eye and set off the gentle wear to the antique wood. The upper walls are constructed of beaded wood made from salvage Long Leaf Pine 2×4′s with the original patina facing outward. The wood is well over 100 years old throughout the house.
Her flooring is antique tongue and groove 3 1/4″ Vertical grain Long Leaf Pine, circa 1890′s, from another church we took down in northern Missouri, lovingly hand restored and hand laid. The subflooring and framing of the Chapel are all made of salvaged, vintage long leaf pine – no cheap white-wood from the big box store in this lovely lady!
The interior ceiling is fully lined in vintage tin ceiling squares, stamped with a 4″ square floral geometric pattern (see photos). The tin is in it’s natural, aged state, unpainted, with a lovely patina of medium cedar brown, which matches the color of the 4 rough sawn beams which serve as her horizontal cross ties that stablize her for her trips down the road in the century to come.
She is wired for standard residential electric, with eight (8) double outlets (2 on each wall). She also is wired for a ceiling light/fan wiring and a big front porch light.
The ceiling light is from a Chapel outside of Houston and the porch light is also a salvaged vintage church light.
THE EXTERIOR
The Chapel’s exterior is clad in Long Leaf Pine and Cypress clapboard painted with a high quality Sherwin Williams paint in a creamy white.
The entry door and the window sashes are painted classic charcoal black in a matte finish with the same brand paint.
Her roof is vintage tin metal panels in a v-crimp style salvaged in Texas and the ridge cap will be a bit decorative, to be seen.
She comes with a small front porch, created from Long Leaf Pine 3 1/4″ Tongue and groove with a wide set of fron stairs done with steel stringers and Long Leaf Pine treads. We will be putting up a decorative porch railing on the front porch as well.
She also has two exterior electrical outlets as well.
The ridge cap shown is temporary for transport; and will be replaced with a decorative final one after moved to the final loction.
OPTIONAL UPGRADES
• The Chapel comes with four (4) free, vintage 10′ wooden pews, in used vintage condition. If you would like additional custom pews made to match or shorter pews, that can be arranged for an additional fee.
• Custom woodend screens can also be built for the windows. This could be air conditioned with a split system and thus generate nearly no noise inside the Chapel. AC is not included.

I’m in love with this chapel! I’ve always wanted to live in a church…I’m Quaker (Live Oaks Friends Meeting in Houston, TX). I’m currently renting, but if there were any way I could snag this beauty, I would. I’m living in the Heights now, where there’s no zoning…
Beautiful, spiritual place! Doh. Now I’m feeling envy

Can we add a wood burning stove to this? Or is there plans to build one for the MO climates. Occasional snow.

Awesome! I would feel personally closer to my God in this setting! Truly stunning!
