The 5 Day Summer SalvageFaire Building Workshops @ Tiny Texas Houses
Jun 10 @ 4:00 pm – Jun 14 @ 8:00 pm

Tiny Texas Houses is proud to announce that we will be hosting weekday building classes at our facility in Luling, Texas this summer. Every evening from Monday thru Friday (5pm-9pm) we will be working on building projects in and around our facility.

The projects will cover a wide range of subjects. The exact project that we work on will be determined by participant turnout and manpower, but our project list is as follows (in no specific order):

  • Finish out the interior skins of our central building of the SalvageFaire Market property
  • Build a deck and awning around the central building for the SalvageFaire Market
  • Build Rows of Vending Booths on the SalvageFaire Property
  • Landscape and plot the layout of the Salvagefaire property
  • Build public restrooms on the SalvageFaire Property

Everyone who signs up will have the opportunity to work on at least one of the projects listed above. We will be using strictly salvaged materials from Brad Kittel’s 30,000 sq foot warehouse to build all of these additional structures.

Participants have the opportunity to work hands-on with salvaged materials under the supervision of  Brad Kittel and the Tiny Texas Team. No experience is necessary! We are asking for passionate, dedicated individuals who are interested in working with salvaged materials and helping us develop the beginning stages of our SalvageFaire Market.

Each evening from 5pm-9pm, depending on turnout and man power, we will focus on a particular building project. The exact details of each evenings agenda will be released as the dates get closer. Rest assured that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with Brad Kittel’s creative energy as he builds the SalvageFaire facility in the same vein that he designs his Tiny Texas houses!

This experience can provide you with the knowledge to build and design your very own projects from salvaged materials. Participants can expect to learn the following things throughout the course of our 5 Day Workshops:

  • How to install interior skins and “finish out” a structure
  • How to cut, measure, sand, and apply tung oil to salvaged wood
  • How to use pneumatic tools and hand tools with salvaged materials
  • How to build decks and awnings
  • How to survey, level, and install foundations for decks, small structures, and the like
  • How to store and manage salvaged materials
  • How to prep, clean, and install salvaged tin roofing
  • How to insulate a building with Icynene insulation (the same we use on our Tiny Texas Houses)
  • And MUCH MUCH MORE!

We are designing these five days work weeks each evening in the hopes that it will better correlate with the working individual’s schedule and provide more people the opportunity to join us working on our projects.

We need all the help we can get to develop the initial stages of our SalvageFaire Market and that’s why we’re reaching out to the public to join us in our endeavors. With the right amount of man power, we believe we can launch our SalvageFaire market by Mid-July 2013.
