Will you have the etchings to help ease the itching for a tiny house you could build one day? Want to learn how to create a tiny house on a weekend or a week? Want the parts to be built without the toxins, imports, or unsustainable products that add to pollution and cost a big chunk of change? I ask these simple questions because some don’t know that manifesting takes a clear idea to set the stage. Then, on the reality stage, you can build your visions and be understood when you define them to the people you will see who can help you manifest them, thus making them come to be. Whew… yes, you do have some work to do… crafting out the things you know, like a wooden floor and antique windows, classic trim, perhaps stained glass, and if you can, why not have a blast and create a cottage you could live in for a lifetime if you feel it? A master suite gives you a place to sleep, to rest or write, to meditate, and a private and personal space. Sharing kitchens, even baths, is not the same as bedrooms; if one is looking to simplify, community helps unify.
Why have so much we can share with other honest people where you live together, knowing that your part is worth your “being there”? Helping grow the jungle of food with natural means letting the birds, the frogs, the fish, and the trees grow well without the world’s poisons is the only way to produce a space where survival is not just for the human race. So few think that to salvage all, they need to build the best of all without polluting, killing trees, or transporting ships across all the seas. What will you offer if you seek to be a part of a unique place?
How about supporting the network that will bring together the Carpenter, farmer, mechanic, or more? Your knowledge is valuable, your skills even more, and your actions that create things make you gold for the world of intentional communities where each person can bring talents that make launching possible by becoming part of a network devoted to salvaging the best of our past and teaching others how to thrive by creating an incredible future with the treasured parts of the past. The kids we teach today will inherit the Earth we leave them with and care for us when we need it later. Let us be sure they have the skills to do it right.
The beautiful colors of the past, like this milk-painted Long Leaf Pine, do not have lead-based paint to be concerned with, formaldehyde outgassing like plywood, the dangers of sheetrock, acrylic acid from latex paints, or gasses from vinyl that emulate estrogen when breathed in at night. It is actually possible to build a much healthier and Earth-friendly house from salvage than any other way and be more energy efficient in the building process and the life of the house.
Without the life skills that come with doing the work and making it happen, there will be little more than talk, plans, and wonder at the failure of the group to reach a goal. Tools, knowledge, materials, and human energy are required for any intentional community to form. Many people dream great dreams but do not know how to attain them, nor the people to teach them how. We want to change that, to give the skills, the means, and materials, and hopefully, inspire the support networks it will take to manifest a Pure Salvage Living Renaissance that will motivate many others to do great things in this time of great need. Many are learning in this day and age, there is no absolute security, no genuinely safe place that you might not be affected as the world goes through the throes of changes brought on by storms that no one can stop.
